Abstract

Trisazo dyes.--The reduced or saponified monoazo dye 1-amino-4-acetylamino- or 4-nitrobenzene --> Cleve's acid is diazotized and coupled alkaline with 2 : 8 : 6-acid and the resulting diaminodisazo dyestuff is monodiazotized and coupled with a m-arylenediamine substituted at least once in an amino group by a hydroxyalkyl group. The products dye cotton in full black shades. In an example the dyestuff 1-amino-4-acetylamino- or 4-nitrobenzene --> Cleve's acid is hydrolyzed or reduced, diazotized, coupled alkaline with 2 : 8 : 6-acid, again monodiazotized and coupled with 1-oxyethylamino-3-aminobenzene. Other end components containing oxymethyl and oxypropyl groups, or the glycol or glycerol radicle may also be used. Specification 12804/00, [Class 2], is referred to.
