Abstract
456,032. Cellulose wadding. PASHLEY, E., 10, Springfield Avenue, and ROBINSON & SONS, Ltd., Wheat Bridge Mills, both in Chesterfield. Feb. 3, 1936, No. 3283. [Class 96] [See also Group IX] In making cellulose wadding, the web of fibrous material, weighing not more than 25 grams per square metre, is removed from the plain drying cylinder by a toothed or serrated doctor 5, Fig. 5, held in an adjustable clamp. The fibres are thus disarranged irregularly, irregular hunched streaks 2, Fig. 2, being formed in the wadding, thereby increasing its bulk. A pile of such superposed webs, which may be used for filtering, is also of increased bulk. The doctor may be reciprocated laterally. The doctor teeth 7 may be #in. long and 8 to the inch.
