K. ; Kalra, Sharpur, Punjab, India) Feb. 27, 1936, No. 9003/35. [Class 5 (i)] A device for cutting or slicing vegetables &c., particularly potatoes to form wafers for potato crisps, comprises a plate or strip having a transverse cutter substantially parallel with the plate or strip and a flush or plain surface along which the vegetable can be moved towards the cutter, the plate or strip also having supporting ends or feet and being of such form that it can be conveniently held when supported on its ends or feet to enable the vegetable to be freely moved along the plate or strip and over the cutter, the cut wafers passing through a slot below the cutter. In the form shown, a metal plate 20 is formed at one end with a handle 21, and at the other end with feet 22 adapted to bear on a table &c. The cutter 23 is formed by pressing out a portion of the plate 20, so as to form also a slot 24 for the passage of the cut wafer. A number of modifications are described. In one form, the plate or strip has four depending legs by means of which the device can be supported horizontally, or in a slightly inclined position.. In another form, the plate is formed with feet or projections at one end and a downwardly-extending portion at the other end for enabling the device to be supported in an inclined position. In a further modification, the sides of the plate are provided with supporting-members capable of being folded flat against the plate. The cutter, instead of being integral, may be a separate member adapted to be fixed to the plate, or may form part of a metal extension fixed to the plate or strip and provided with supporting ends or feet.
