653,204. Fruit and vegetable slicing machines. PLATERS & STAMPERS. Ltd., and HORNER, H. Sept. 10, 1948, No. 23898. [Class 5(i)] Vegetable or fruit slicing device has an aluminium base 1 with upturned side flanges 2 bent over to form grooves 4 and 5 (not shown), in which a pusher 6 is guided. At one end of the base is secured a blade structure 9 having a main blade 10 arranged transversely to the base and secondary blades 12 extending between the main blade and the base. The blades 12 are U- form strips of metal secured by lugs to the base and the main blade. At the other end of the base is a depending flange 13 adapted to engage the edge of a table to take up the thrust when the device is in use. This flange may be screwed to the table and the base may have feet 14 of rubber or other resilient non-slipping material. Alternatively the whole of the base may be covered with this material. The pusher 6 has a handle portion 16 and an operative face 17 having an inclined portion 18 spaced from a castellated portion 19. An article to be cut is inserted between the pusher and the blade structure. On thrusting the pusher towards the structure 9 the blades penetrate the article until the main blade enters the space between the two portions 18, 19 of the pusher and the secondary blades enter the spaces between the castellations. A modified pusher which may be of thermo-setting or thermoplastic material has a flat top with a finger groove.
