[Class 29] Baked goods, particularly fresh rolls of bread, are prevented from becoming stale by storage in a refrigerator at a temperature lower than - 10‹C. Preferably solidified carbon dioxide is used as refrigerant and the goods are exposed to the evaporated gas. A suitable refrigerator comprises a vacuum-jacketed storage vessel b surmounted by a similar vessel a containing the refrigerant resting on a grating c.
