Abstract
276,296. Richter, A. Aug. 18, 1926, [Convention date]. Refrigerators, domestic, cooled by ice containers or other cooling- means arranged low down in the chambers and open at the tops so that access of the outer air is always provided, have walls curved in section, preferably to an oval form. The outer walls may consist of curved front and back members a and flat sides and bottom, formed of ply wood, and the inner walls i may be of sheet aluminium spaced by insulation k from the outer walls, the insulation being thicker towards the bottom and colder part. The inner and outer walls are connected only at the top by a wood ring r, and a curved perforated lid d is provided to keep out insects &c. When ice is used, it is placed in a container g, spaced by insulation n from the inner metal wall i so as to prevent too great heat transfer. The articles to be kept cool may be placed on gratings o, u carried by stands s in contact with the ice or ice-water; or bottles may be inserted directly into the ice container through a gap in the lower grating u.
