Abstract

400,658. Preserving fish &c. HEYWOOD, F., Norton Hall, The Green, Nortonon-Tees, and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Millbank, London. April 29, 1932, No. 12416. [Class 49.] Fish &c. are preserved in a mixed atmosphere of air and carbon dioxide in a heat-insulated chamber cooled by the evaporation of solid carbon dioxide 4 supported upon a a metal plate 3, the evolved vapour passing through an injector 7, having a valvecontrolled air inlet 10 to the interior of the chamber which is provided with an outlet 15. The quantity of vapour passing to the injector is controlled by valves 13, 14. For storing fish at 0‹ C. an atmosphere containing from 50 to 55 per cent of carbon dioxide is employed.
