Abstract

366,264. Refrigerators. BUTTERFIELD, C. S., Sobraon Works, Bow Common Lane, London. Jan. 20, 1931, Nos. 1903 and 25836. [Class 29.] A portable box for transporting and storing ice cream &c. comprises an outer case having side panels a and a base of plywood or hardwood, a galvanized metal lining n, and insulation o between the lining and the case. The side panels are secured at their upper and lower ends respectively to wooden frames d, h, e and the base is secured to a wooden frame k carrying iron skids r. The lining is secured at its upper end by a flange p to the underside of the frame h which is recessed to accommodate a packing ring i and the wooden frame t to the cover s, the underside of which carries a metal container for insulation and a perforate box 2 for solid refrigerant, e.g. carbon dioxide. In a modification, the refrigerant is stored in a case having hinged lids 9, Fig. 6, and a perforate tube through which the vaporized refrigerant flows into the box. In another arrangement, a rectangular tube having outlet openings in one of its sides is arranged at one side of the case. In a further modification, the vaporized refrigerant flows out of the case 15, Fig. 10, into an apertured duct 13 formed in the lining of the storage box.
