Abstract

454,501. Vacuum closures for jars. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.-(Don Baxter Intravenous Products Corporation; 923, Waukegan Road, Glenview, Illinois, U.S.A.) March 29, 1935, No. 9880. [Classes 125 (ii) and 125 (iii)] [See also Group VI] A plug closure 10 for a jar &c. has two passages 11 and 12 therethrough, and is closed by a rubber &c. disc 13 which is sufficiently flexible to enter the openings 11, 12 and indicate pressure below atmospheric in the jar. A threaded ring may be placed on the jar to secure the disc 13 and a metal disc which is placed thereon. An air tube 19 extends nearly to the bottom of the jar to facilitate pouring. A bell having a central stop which holds the disc during the exhausting operation, is provided for co-operation with the jar. The stopper is stated to be used for fluids which are kept sterile for intravenous injection &c. U.S.A. Specification 1,941,071 is referred to.
