[Class 69 (i)] [See also Group XIX] A fluid-flow meter for measuring, for example, the fuel consumption in internal-combustion engines comprises three interconnected pointers 15, 23, 29 moving over dials 16, 24, 30, the pointer 15 indicating gallons per hour, the pointer 23 the speed or distance travelled, and the pointer 29 gallons per mile. The pointer 15 is moved by a toothed sector 14 meshing with a rack 12 which is positioned by a tapered valve 9 carried by a float 8. The liquid to be measured flows from a supply pipe 6 by way of an upper chamber 2, and an aperture 4 controlled by the valve 9, to a lower chamber 3 and a discharge pipe 7. The pointer 23 is driven by an odometer or speedometer and by means of a rack 21 positions a rod 20 having a vertical member 19 engaging a block 18 which is also engaged by a horizontal member 13 on the rack 12, so that the pointer 29 operated by a slotted link 27 engaging a pin on the block 18 has the combined movement.
