[Classes 54 and 69 (i)] [Also in Group XIX] Means for indicating the flow of liquid, air or gas, particularly for measuring consumption of liquid fuel in an aeroplane or vehicle, comprises a heater arranged to heat the fluid as it passes through a pipe &c., and a differential pressure gauge operated by the differential expansion of fluid in two phials connected to the gauge by tubes and responding respectively to the temperature of the fluid before and after heating. As shown, the fluid passes successively through chambers A, B, C, chamber B having lagging 2 and containing an electric or other heater 1. Chambers A and C contain fluidcharged phials 3, 4, each connected by a tube 5 to one of a pair of Bourdon tubes 15 which are connected by links 14, 16, to toothed segments 12, 13, engaging opposite sides of a pinion 11 carried by a toothed sector 8 operating a pointer 6, whereby only differential movement of the Bourdon tubes effect movement of the pointer. The gauge may indicate petrol consumption in gallons per hour and may be combined with an air-speed indicator or speedometer having a pointer moving over the same scale as the pointer 6; the combination may be so set that the pointers coincide when the petrol consumption in miles per gallon reaches a given value. In another form, the chambers 13, C, may be combined, an external heater replacing the heater 1.
