Abstract
241,738. Rippingille, F. S. Nov. 24, 1924. Measuring consumption of petrol with respect to speed of motors.-In a liquid meter having a measuring chamber with float-controlled inlet and outlet valves, the valves 2, 3, Figs. 1 and 3, are disposed at the bottom of the chamber or in a well 29 and are operated by a lever 18 connected by springs 24 to a float-operated arm or lever 13. The lever 13 may be pivotally connected to a sleeve 6 slidably mounted on a spindle 10 and provided with tops 7, 8 alternately engaged by the float, or it may have an extension 13<a> passing through an eye in a bracket 28 adjustably fixed to the float. The outlet of the measuring chamber may be provided with a three-way valve 32, which in one position allows the liquid to pass direct to a carburettor through a passage 33, in another position allows it to pass only through a passage 34 to an auxiliary chamber 4 connected to the carburettor, and in the remaining position allows it to pass through both passages 33, 34, so that the meter may be used as in Specification 204,145 to indicate rate of consumption in terms of distance travelled by means of a float-actuated pointer 30.
