Liquid meters, especially for measuring the fuel consumption of internal-combustion engines, comprise chambers A, E, C, D. A constant level is maintained in the chamber A, and communication, both for air and liquid, between the chamber A and the measuring chamber E, and between the chambers E and C, is controlled by a valve such as R, adapted to be operated by a float F' in the chamber D or by o t h e r means. The chamber D communicates with the atmosphere through a pipe t. Modifications are described, comprising the employment of lift valves, spring-actuated valve gear and the subdivision of the chamber D.
