Abstract

Threads, each comprising a plurality of raw silk filaments, are partly degummed by treatment for an hour in a 7 per cent soap solution at 60--80 DEG C., and may then be softened by immersion in an emulsion of peanut oil, which oil has been treated with soda lye and neutralized with sulphuric acid.
