Abstract

452,749. Electric incandescent lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Enunasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 6, 1935, No. 33886. Convention date, Feb. 11. [Class 39 (ii)] In an electric incandescent lamp having a bulb of small volume which is surrounded by a second bulb secured to it by a tube provided with two flanges, one at each end, which are sealed to the respective bulbs, the pinch 44 of the lamp is situated between the two flanges 42, 43 of the stem tube 41. An exhausting tube 45 has a lateral opening 48 into the stem tube. The inner bulb 49 may be filled with gas such as krypton or xenon, enabling a bulb of very small dimensions to be used. The space between the bulbs may be exhausted or filled with a gas of poor heat conductivity. The inner bulb may be made of clear glass, and the outer bulb 50 coated on the inside with coloured varnish. Cooling may be facilitated by providing apertures in the wall of the outer bulb. A doubly or multiply helically wound filament may be used in the lamp.
