Abstract
452,597. Window fastenings ; locks. HELLIWELL & CO., Ltd., and HOLTON, J. W., Birds Royd, Brighouse, Yorkshire. March 21, 1935, No. 8811. [Class 44] A window &c. fastening of cock-spur type has ar enlarged boss L by which the handle M and nose N are pivotally mountec on a fixed cylindrical lock casing containing a sliding bolt T adapted to be shot into engagement with a recess l in nose N to retain the fastening in engagec position. Nose N may have a slot as in Fig. 2 to retain the window &c ajar. The casing E has a square boss D fixed in a square hole in a lug C on the movable frame B by an external screw G and internal screw H, the casing serving to retain the hollow boss L in place by a flange P thereon located between case E and a plate F. A projection S working in an arcuate recess R limits movement of the fastening. The boss L is retained frictionally against accidental angular movement by a brake member V urged outwards by a spring t which also bears frictionally against the bolt T. Bolt T may be shot and retracted by key as in Figs. 1-4, or may be operated by knob Z, Figs. 5, 8, the bolt in the latter case being locked by permutation discs W (two shown) engaging recesses y in the bolt, and released by rotating the discs to bring cutaway portions w into registration with the bolt.
