Abstract
430,369. Door &c. fastenings. SNOOK, L. E., 22, Elm Avenue, Eastcote, Middlesex. Feb. 23, 1934, No. 5951. [Class 44] [See also Group XXII] A door fastening comprises a spring-shot bolt n with rounded or double - bevelled head m so that normally the catch yields when the door is either pushed or pulled, and a cam g which can be rotated by an inside handle (not shown) to engage the tail p of the bolt and positively hold it in fastened position. The spindle k may extend through the door and serve to operate an "engaged" indicator. A fixed outside handle may be provided, housing a sleeve operable by key and engaging the end of the spindle so that unlocking may be effected from outside. In this form the sleeve may carry the movable indicator member. The case a shown is of cylindrical mortise type. Fig. 4 shows a bit with depth gauge u suitable for forming the case-receiving hole in the edge of the door. Fig. 5 shows a gauge with apertures w to locate the corners of the end plate c, apertures x to correctly position the holes for the fixing screws, not shown, covered by plate c, and an aperture z for correctly locating the hole to receive the operating spindle.
