Abstract
383,975. Door fastenings and locks. FREEDLAND, I., Earlston House, Upper Park Road, Broughton, Manchester. July 3, 1931, No. 19166. [Class 44.] In a fastening particularly intended to effect a tight-closure of doors to prevent warping, the bolt b, when shot, rides over a ramp plate D on the door post or let into the edge thereof. The look case is secured to the inner face of, or let into, the door and the bolt is shot or withdrawn by a pin c on an arm rotatable by an outside depending handle c<1>. The pin co-operates with a slot b<1> in the bolt leading to an elongated aperture b<2> provided to allow sliding movement of the bolt over the handle spindle. The pin and bolt are retained in their extreme positions by a spring having arms c<2>, c<3>, one or other of which bears against the pin. The bolt may be locked by a pivoted detent having a projection e<1> adapted to enter the slot b<1> in the bolt, and raised to free the bolt by a cam F rotatable by a key G which has a pin movable along an arcuate slot in the back plate of the lock case and engaging one or other of two holes f<2> in the cam.
