452,280. Ventilating-apparatus. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and SAINTY, C. L., 24, Buckingham Gate, Westminster. Jan. 18, 1935, Nos. 18624/36 (divided out of 450,538) and 3384/36. [Class 137] The floors or zones of a large store or building in which the number of visitors and thus the heat liberated on each floor, is constantly varying, are ventila ted by an installatior which comprises a main duct II having branches 13, 13A to the several floors III the main duct being of relatively large cross-section so as to assure independent control of the branches leading to each floor. A central con-' ditioning plant 3 and fan 4 supplies the main duct, a fan 8 being provided in each branch to recirculate the air through ducts 9, 12, and draw in fresh conditioned air through duct 13. Control valves 14, 15 are operated by a thermostat 16 in the enclosure. To maintain the pressure in the duct II constant automatic means such as are described in Specifications 344,914 or 418,748 may be used. Specification 450,538 describes similar apparatus when employed to ventilate rooms or zones of a multiple room building grouped according to solar radiation. Heaters or each floor may be associated with the control valves 14, 15 and the supply of heating fluid co-ordinated with the air supply. Specification 355,576 also is referred to.
