[Class 65 (ii)] [See also Group XXXII] In an ball - and - socket coupling between tractor and trailer vehicles, the socket a is formed as a single casting having a slot a<2>, on each side of which are formed lugs a<3> through which a tightening bolt b may be passed for the purpose of contracting the socket to compensate for wear. The slot a2 may be made either in or transverse to the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle.
