[Class 52 (ii)l Adjustment mechanism for pedestal seats comprises a vertical stationary tube a, a tube b sliding therein, a rack a<1> secured to the inside of the tube a and located within a groove b<3> in the tube b, a spring - controlled pawl b5 pivoted in the tube b and engaging the rack, and an operating rod b<10> passing through the tube b and engaged at its upper end by a lever c pivoted to the seat frame b<1>. The latter may be rotatably mounted on the upper end of the tube b. The operating lever c is thus closely adjacent to the seat, and may rotate with it.
