[Class 27] Price-changing mechanism.-In prepayment meters of the kind provided with means for locking the prepayment transmission train, when this train is broken for adjustment of the price-changing portion, a wheel g of a spring- driven train, which is connected to a wheel e through a price-change set of gears including a wheel c meshing with the wheel e and a changewheel f meshing with the wheel g, is locked, when the price-change portion is removed for adjustment, by a braking portion k on one arm m of a lever controlled by a spring n. The price-change portion is located on the meter frame a by a boss b entering a hole in the frame, and is secured in position by a nut h on a screw i which enters a curved slot j. A plate r is pivoted on the price-change portion and secured in adjusted position by a nut t on a screw passing through a curved slot in the plate r. A pawl u on this plate engages the end o of the other arm of the lever m, when the price-change portion is in position, and holds the brake k out of engagement with the wheel g. The end o is located between jaws p on a fixed plate q, these jaws preventing accidental movement of the lever m when the pricechange gear is being removed or replaced. The upper jaw p enters a slot w in the part u and guides the plate r into its proper position. The plate r is adjusted, according to the size of the wheel f, so that, when the part u meets the portion p<1> of the plate q between the jaws p, it ensures that the teeth of the wheels f, are engaged to the correct depth.
