Abstract

450,887. Tents. STEVENS, C. H., 9, Favril Street, Hampton, Victoria, Australia. Feb. 8, 1935, No. 4172. [Class 20 (i)] An umbrella tent without a central pole has the ribs 7 formed in two parts hinged together at points 9 offset from the ends of the parts, the ribs being hinged to a support 5 at their upper ends provided with a depending tubular guide 19 on which slides a tubular member 27 attached to a socket 23 which carries the inner ends of the strut members 22. A rope 28 is attached to the support 5 and passes downwardly through the guide members, a loop 29 being provided at its lower end to receive the foot of an operator while the tent frame is being expanded. The tent fabric is secured to the frame by any suitable means. The upper support may be of metal or wood and a ventilating flap may be provided. A nut 20 retains the guide members in operative position.
