To all whom it may concern:

Be'it known that I, JornvH. MORGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saranac Lake, in the county of Franklin and State of New'York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tent-Frames, of

which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to tent frames and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.

An object of the invention is *to provide a frame adapted to support a tent, the said frame being composed of parts adapted to be collapsed or folded into small space whereby the frame will occupy but little room while in transportation or in storage.

l/Vith this object in view the frame comprises a stake adapted to be driven in the ground and a hollow sleeve adapted to receive the upper end portion of the stake. A set screw is provided for securing the sleeve with relation to the stake. Arms are pivotally connected to the upper end of the sleeve and a collar is slidably mounted thereon. Braces are pivotally connected with the arms and collar and the said collar is provided with a set screw whereby the same may be secured at an adjusted position upon the stake. The tents canvas is adapted to be stretched over the arms when the same are in extended position and the lower edges of the canvas may be secured to the ground by means of tent pins in the usual manner. Securing devices are passed through the canvas at the ends of the arms and at the upper end of the sleeve and serve as means for attaching the canvas to the said parts. Guy ropes are attached to the securing devices at the ends of the arms and may be secured to the pins driven in the ground in the usual manner.

The tent frame comprises a stake 1 which is pointed at its lower end as at 2, and which is provided at a point between its ends with an annular flange 3 adapted to bear against vSpecitlcation of Letters Patent.

Arms 6 are pivotally connected at their inner ends with the inner end of the sleeve 4. A collar 7 is slidably mounted upon the sleeve 4 and braces 8 are pivotally connected at their lower ends with the said collar and pivotally connected at their upper ends with the intermediate portions of the arms 6. The collar 7 is provided with a set screw 9 whereby the said collar may be secured at an adjusted position upon the said sleeve. The tent canvas 10 is adapted to be passed over the upper edges of the arms 6 when the same are extended and the lower edge portions of the said canvas are secured to the ground by means of tent pins 11 in a usual manner. Securing devices 12 are passed through the edge portions of the canvas 10 and are screwed in the ends of the arm 6. Guy ropes 13 are attached to the devices 12 and may be secured to the ground by means of pins 14 in a usual manner. A stud 15 passes through the intermediate portion of the canvas 10 and screws into the upper endof the sleeve 4. Thus it will be seen that means are provided for securing the tent canvas in position upon the frame. When it is desired to take the tent down, the securing devices 12 and the stud 15 are removed and then the set screw 9 is loosened whereby the collar 7 may slide along the sleeve 4. This swings the arms 6 down along the said sleeve. The set screw 5 is then unscrewed'whereby the sleeve 4 is detached or loosened with relation to the stake 1 and the said stake may be removed from the sleeve or slid up therein until the sleeve comes in contact with the flange 3. Thus it will be seen that the parts of the frame may be 001- lapsed in small compass or space and after the canvas tent is removed from the frame the same may be rolled or folded for transportation or storage.

Fig. 5 shows a modified form of arm which may be used in the frame. This arm includes sections 15 and 16 which are arranged to telescope with relation to each other and which may be secured at adjusted positions the surface of the. ground when the pointed by means of a set screw 17. When this arm 7 From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a tent frame of simple and durable structure is provided and that the same may be easily and quickly set up or taken down for transportation, storage or other purposes.

Having described the invention What is claimed is A tent frame comprising a stake, a sleeve adjustably mounted thereon, means for securing the sleeve at an adjusted position upon the stake; arms pivotally connected with the sleeve, a collar slidably mounted upon the sleeve braces pivotally connected with the collar and the arms, means for securing the collar at an adjusted position upon the sleeve and tent canvas securing devices detachably engaging the ends of the arms and the end of the sleeve and guy ropes connected with the securing devices which engage the arms.
