450,793. Motor vehicles; hydraulic driving-gear. PORSCHE GES... DR. ING. H.c.F., 24, Kronenstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 21940. Convention date, Aug. 4, 1934. [Classes 79 (ii) and 79 (iii)] In a vehicle having two or more independent engines driving a plurality of wheels, each engine transmits its power through a gearless hydrodynamic transmission device or torque converter. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the front steering wheels 1 are driven by an engine 2 through an hydraulic gear 3 and a differential gear 4, and the rear wheels 5, 51 are independently driven by separate engines 6, 6<1> through hydraulic gears 7, 7<1> and axle gears 8, 81. The engine 2 and gears 3, 4 form a single block or power unit, and the two engines 6, 6<1> with their gears form a second block or power unit. The fuel tank 13 is behind the driver's seat 14. The front wheels may be driven by two independent engines, similarly to the rear wheels, or the rear wheels may be driven by a single engine. In a modification Fig. 4, the engine 2 is displaced rearwardly between the engines 6, 6<1> and forms a single block with them.
