Abstract
448,903. Rotary meters and engines. RUMMEL, R., 9, Anastasius-Gruntgasse, Viennia. Feb. 22, 1935, No. 5770. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1934. [Class 110 (ii)] The meter or engine comprises a sleeve 26, pierced by holes 30, placed in the casing and rotated by frictional contact of the rollers 12, or the arms may be pivoted to the sleeve. In the latter case the arms are in two or more portions, pivoted together. A further arrangement, Fig. 3, has the inlet and delivery ports b, d arranged in a centre portion c of the casing. Shoes 51 attached to the arms act as cut off valves around the ports b, d. The drum 50 may be lined with leather or the like 59. The arms may be relieved of driving stresses by employing blocks, fixed to the part 51 by pins, sliding in slots in the side plates of the drum. The invention is applicable to engines and pumps. Leather, or similar material, may extend from the rotor along each vane, and extend along the casing bore, for sealing the gaps. Inlet and outlet ports may be arranged as in Fig. 1, or may be provided in one, or both, end covers. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes an eccentric rotor having three or more arms pivoted on spindles and pressed outwards by springs or the like, with rollers running on the casing bore, which may be stationary or moving.. The arms may extend inwards beyond the spindles and support balance weights which balance, partly the centrifugal pressure of the rollers upon the casing bore, at high speeds. Oil or grease may be fed into the machine for sealing purposes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
