Abstract

A dry mixture of calcium carbonate, e.g. 75--90 per cent, with alum and lime, e.g. in proportions 1 to 1, to 5 or more to 1, all in a finely divided condition, is added to water to form a non-acidic suspension of calcium carbonate in the reaction products of alum and lime for use in coating paper or textiles, as a cold water paint, or it may be dried and ground and used as a pigment or filler for oil paints, &c.ALSO:A dry mixture of calcium carbonate, e.g. 75-90 per cent, with alum and lime, e.g. in proportions 1 to 1, to 5 or more to 1, all in a finely divided condition, is added to water to form a non-acidic suspension of calcium carbonate in the reaction products of alum and lime, dried, ground and used as a filler for rubber, &c.
