[Class 40 (iv)] [See also Group XL] The negative resistance effect obtained across a resistance Ra in the anode circuit of a dynatron R is utilized as in Fig. 3 to block or open the circuit of an amplifier V by varying its grid bias and may thereby serve as a muting system in the low frequency stages of a radio receiver. In Fig. 4 the invention is applied to the selective application of one of two transmitting paths W1, W2 to a long-distance line F. G is a differential rectifier the output voltage Eg of which is proportional to the volume or voltage difference between channels W1, W2. The voltage Ek across resistance Ra in the output of the dynatron R blocks one transmission path and simultaneously opens the other.
