[Classes 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] The evaporative surface of forcedflow boilers is formed by a number of tubes 10 each bent into convolutions having straight and bent tube parts 11 which are attached to and supported by a part of the same tube taken past the crown of their bends. Some of the convolutions are also supported at the opposite end by another part of the tube, the unsupported coils being connected by bridge members 12 or supported by a sliding connection with the straight tube portion. In another arrangement vertical coils are freely suspended from a horizontal tube portion carried past the upper bends only. The bends are preferably welded to the tube portions to enable the tubes to be placed against one another and form a continuous boiler wall or crown. Superheater elements may be similarly constructed.
