Abstract
446,438. Attaching fuel containers; motor-cycle frames. COVENTRY-EAGLE CYCLE & MOTOR CO., Ltd., Foleshill Road, MAYO, A. E., Lynton, Rochester Road, and MAYO, P. L., 5, Radford Road, all in Coventry. Nov. 15, 1934, No. 32849. [Classes 79 (iii) and 136 (iii)] The petrol tank is secured on a motor-cycle by a flexible metal strap 10, permanently connected at one end 9 to a part such as the cycle head 5 and at the other end adjustably and detachably connected to another part such as the top-rail 3, the strap embracing the tank longitudinally, preferably with an aperture therein to clear the filling spout 16. Attached to the base of the tank may be an inverted channel bar 2 adapted to seat on the top rail, preferably with a layer of felt or rubber interposed. A similar cushioning layer 13 may be provided between the strap and the tank. At the end 9, the strap is connected by a hinge pin to a lug 6 on the cycle head 5 conforming to the shape of the tank with all extension 8 for attachment of the top rail 3 which comprises a pair of spaced angle bars. At the other end, a bolt 11 integral with a cross-pin 17 passes between the angle bars and is secured by a wing-nut 12. Loops for the pins 9 and 17 are formed by folding back and riveting the ends of the strap. The strap may be reinforced by folding back the longitudinal edges and may lie in a channel or recess in the tank so as to lie flush therewith.
