[Class 87 (i)] A building-plate, particularly for covering walls, comprises a preformed facing plate of glass, ceramic substances, sheet-metal, or the like, which is combined by means of a reinforcement with a filling or backing of concrete, gypsum, cement, asphalt, or the like. As shown in Fig. 3, the facing plate 1 is provided with a cavity 2, and with circumferential grooves 5 and projections 6 upon which a metal-wire reinforcement 7 is wound prior to the application of the backing 8. For the purposes of a more solid fastening, stirrups 10 may be set in so that they are adapted to protrude above the surface of the finished plate. In a modification, the cross-sectional area of the cavity may increase progressively towards the bottom. In a further modification, the cavity may be replaced by a number of dovetailed recesses or by projections. In another modification, Fig. 7, a joint of sheet-iron 14 is secured to the facing plate 1, and is provided with recesses 2 for the reinforcement 7. Several methods of securing the sheet-iron joint to the facing plate are described. In a still further modification, Fig. 13, the building plate comprises two symmetrically dished parts 1, 1<1>, which are joined together by means of wires passing through incisions 18, 18<1> respectively provided in projections 17, 17<1>, and the whole is secured in a surrounding frame of reinforced concrete 26. The dished parts may be provided with circumferential flanges. For purposes of insulation, the cavity may be subdivided by means of glass plates.
