Abstract
445,586. Inclinometers for aircraft. SHEEN, W. C., Officers' Mess, Royal Air Force, Netheravon, Wiltshire. Oct. 13, 1934, No. 29358. [Classes 97 (ii) and 97 (iii)] A rate-of-turn indicator and a pendulousattitude indicator differentially control a third indicator, e.g. a model aeroplane. In the form shown in Fig. 2, 3 is a model pivoted on a spindle 4 and having a crank arm 5, which is pivoted to the middle of a rocker lever 7. The ends of the latter are connected by links 8, 9 to the pointer 1 of a rate of turn indicator and the pointer 2 of a bank indicator respectively. In a modification, Fig. 5, a gyroscopic turn indicator 15 drives the internally toothed annulus 12 of a differential gear. The sun wheel 20 on shaft 19 is driven by slotted lever 21 and crank-pin 22 from an encased pendulum 23. The planet wheels 24 are mounted in a cage 25 rotatable on the shaft 19 and carrying a model 27 by the arm 26. A pointer 18 is mounted on shaft 19 and a pointer 11 carried by the annulus 12. In a further modification an indicator may be differentially controlled by a pendulous pitch indicator and a rate of pitch indicator. Specifications 340,327 and 340,328 are referred to.
