Abstract
404,719. Toothed gearing. HILL, F. W., Air Ministry, Kingsway, London. Jan. 27, 1932, No. 2525. [Class 80 (i).] In order to transmit rotation from a shaft 31, Fig. 8, to a shaft 8x mounted respectively in a pillar 17 and in an arm 3 hinged to one another about an axis 4, a pinion 56 on the shaft 31 is geared to a pinion 55 on a countershaft 51 carrying a pinion 50 in mesh with a pinion 52 on a countershaft 53 connected by bevel gearing 57 to the shaft 8x. The pinions 50, 52 intermesh at a point on the axis 4, and the teeth 54, Fig. 9, of these pinions are rounded to allow for the movement of the arm 3 about this axis.
