444,708. Acoustic horns. WEIL, M., 305, East 46th Street, New York, U.S.A. Oct. 18, 1934, No. 29870. Convention date, Oct. 18, 1933. [Class 13] [See also Groups XXXIX and XL] A horn which filters out the characteristic fundamental note of a loud-speaker and amplifies the sound and distributes it laterally as well as forwardly from the diaphragm comprises rigid non- vibrating members 35, 38 shaped to form an annular chamber S with cross - section increasing from a throat at the periphery of the diaphragm 50 to the frameshaped mouth 13, 14. One surface of the chamber S is continuous with the diaphragm, and the other is extended to form a highly restricted space between the part 37 and the diaphragm. As applied to a radio-gramophone, the mouth 13, 14 may extend to the sides as well as the front of the cabinet. The cabinet may be rectangular, drum-shaped, or elliptical. The member 35 may be of wood and may be backed with felt 58, or it may be moulded or a shaped sheet.
