Abstract

444,595. Securing-rings for the covers of drums &c. WAGSTAFF, H., 21, Bridgewater Street, Liverpool. Sept. 25, 1934, No. 27447. [Class 21] The flange of a cover and the beaded rim of a metal drum or container are pressed together, preferably with a packing-ring in the joint by means of a channelled clamping ring 5 actuated by the toggle arrangement shown, a hook 11 on the anchor link 8 engaging the two ends of the ring when in closed position and a cam shoe 16 on actuating lever 6 engaging the inner wall of the dished cover to positively press the ends of the ring inwards. The end 20 of the cam shoe serves as a stop to limit the motion, and the cam flange 16 and a flange 19 provide a recess for a tool for levering the mechanism open. Apertures 21 may be provided for a sealing wire.
