442,935. Rubber threads. SHEPHERD, T. L., 7, Park Lane, London. May 12, 1934, Nos. 14437 and 24304. [Class 70] A process for producing rubber thread and the like consists in applying latex or like dispersion to a knife edge rotating member, applying coagulant, withdrawing the thread of treated latex, stretching it before it is fully coagulated, and completing the coagulation. As shown, latex from a bath 3 is applied by a disc 2 to the edge of a disc 1 dipping into a bath 4 of acetic acid or other coagulant. The thread in course of coagulation is pulled off by a roller 5 and then passes over a second roller which may run at a greater speed. In order to ensure the complete coagulation the pulling or tension roller may itself run in coagulant. The method produces a round thread. Specification 441,124 is referred to.
