442,827. Tensioning loom warps. GRIMM, O., 73, Hauptstrasse, Lengenfeld, Germany. July 8, 1935, No. 19506. [Class 142 (ii)] In weaving fabrics with densely - picked weft threads, the tension of the warps corresponding to each heald is changed rapidly at the beat-up while the last picked weft is held and is being pushed over or under the preceding weft. The tension of the warps is changed by back rests 6 .. 9 oscillated by cams 27 .. 30. The cams may be shaped to produce the slackening of the warp in stages. Examples are also given for weaving with two and three healds. In the latter case, the back rests are operated so that for each shed one set of warps is taut, another slackened, while the third is loose. The cams are operated by chain gearing from the crankshaft 33.
