Abstract

442,418. Rotary engines. MABILLE, R., 22, Rue du Viaduc, Brussels. Sept. 3, 1935, Nos. 24575 and 24576. Convention dates, Sept. 8, 1934 and July 18, 1935. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary engine or pump of the sliding- rocking vane type is provided with rollers 12 mounted in the semi-cylindrical blocks 11 which allow the rocking movements of the vanes 8 during their reciprocations in the rotor 2. The blocks 11 may be divided into two or more parts and packed by serrations 40 on the line of division, and springs may force the parts apart. The vanes are pivotally mounted upon a stationary stub shaft fixed to one end of the casing, concentric with the casing bore. Spaces 12<1> are allowed between the rollers 12 and their spindles 13, but bearings may be inserted. Spring-pressed caps may be used to keep the roller bearings 14 in position. The vanes are fitted with spring-pressed serrated T-shaped packing pieces at their ends. At the tips packing bars 16 are inserted, each comprising two strips bent inwards at the ends which tends to spring the strips longitudinally towards the stator ends. Packing bars 17 are pressed by springs against the vanes, and further bars arranged in the rotor sockets S press on the curved surfaces of the blocks 11. Curved packing bars 18 engage in grooves in the stator ends. Rotary inlet and exhaust valves 31, 32 and 33, for the fuel and exhaust gases, are rotated by gearing from the engine shaft. Recesses 35 are provided to increase the size of the working chambers.
