441,482. Refrigerators. WHITAKER, A., Dorleen, Fulmer Road, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, and SAUNDERS, N. F. T., Rowardennan, St. Martins Approach, Ruislip, Middlesex. July 16, 1934, No. 20818. [Class 29] An open-backed casing or shell 8 is placed over an existing refrigerating cabinet and is provided with upper and lower sets of louvre openings 13, 14 in the part of its front adjacent the open front of the machine compartment of the cabinet to provide both inlet and outlet at the front for cooling-air for the machine, the machine compartment preferably being fitted with a baffle 15 to direct the air current out of the upper louvres. The casing has an opening opposite the door 22 of the storage compartment, and this door and its fastening means may be removed from the cabinet and fitted to the casing opening. The casing is secured to the cabinet by the door fastenings. The casing may project above the 'cabinet to include a cupboard 20. The bottom 27 of the casing front is secured to a base 6 on which the cabinet rests. The refrigerant conduits 29 are housed in a recess 30, Fig. 8, in the door jamb 31, covered by a removable strip 26 which serves also to conceal screws 25 for securing the front 7 of the outer casing to the cabinet. The baffle 15 may be hinged at its rear edge 19, Fig. 4, and may be in two parts hinged together so as to fold up when the machine is to be removed. The construction described permits a cabinet to be placed close to a wall or in a recess.
