Abstract
441,424. Hollow rollers. MANLOVE, ALLIOTT, & CO., Ltd., Bloomsgrove Works, and PHILPS, A. M., 3, Burlington Road, both in Nottingham. Nov. 3, 1934, No. 31589. [Class 34 (i)] [See also Groups VIII and XXXII] In an ironing-machine wherein the roller clothing 5 is supported on the roller by springs 3, in order to prevent undue compression of the springs or deformation of that part of the roller sitting in the bed of the machine the springs are initially compressed by an amount in excess of or approximately equal to that which would be caused by the weight of the roller sitting in the bed and normally acting thereon. Caps 1 are inserted in the upper ends of the springs and are provided with flanges 2 acting on the springs. Screws 4 pass through the bases of the caps and engage the roller shell whereby the springs may be initially compressed but may be further compressed by the passage of the goods being ironed, the caps 1 then sliding along the shanks of the screws.
