Abstract
426,548. Gill-boxes, drawing-frames, &c. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., Hartford Works, Oldham, and HUGHES, J., 903, Oldham Road, Rochdale. July 29, 1933, No. 7764/35. Divided out of 427,882. [Class 120 (i)] In a gill-box, intersecting gillbox, worsted drawing-frame, or like machine the weighting or pressureapplying means for the top back roller 52, Figs. 1, 3 and 4, comprises weighting levers 60, 61, pivoted on studs 58, 59, mounted in the frame members 46, 47, and formed with arms 64, 65 to bear on the roller journals 50, 51 and with ears 66, 67 in which are hooked the upper ends of tension rods 68, 69 associated with springs 62, 63 which act on one or the other side of the centre line according to the position of the levers 60, 61. A frame 43 pivoted on the studs 58, 59 is movable between stops 44, 45, 43* and is formed with arms 48, 49 extending beneath the journals 50, 51. It is also provided with parts 80, 81 for lifting the levers 60, 61 off the top roller 52 and into the position shown in Fig. 4. Members 82, 83 are provided for the opposite action. The frame 43 is preferably so formed that the weighting levers 60, 61 are moved off the roller 52 before the roller begins to be lifted by the arms 48, 49. With the parts as shown in Fig. 4 the roller 52 may be easily removed from or replaced in the machine. Weights may be used instead of the springs 62, 63.
