Abstract
373,346. Mangles, wringers, and calenders. HARRIS, C. W., The Sheiling, Northenden Road, Gatley, Cheshire. April 11, 1931, Nos. 10693 and 19977. [Class 138 (ii).] A pressure device for mangles, wringers, or calenders comprises, a horizontal bolt e, Fig. 1, arranged above the upper roller a and passing through one pair of arms of bell-crank levers c, c<1> the other ends of which bear on the halfbearing blocks d of the upper roller. Springs f, f<1> are confined between an adjusting nut g and the lever c, ar.d between the lever c<1> and the head g<1> of the bolt respectively. A loose roller h may be provided on the bolt to facilitate the return of the work after passing through the rollers. In the modification shown in Fig. 1a the bell-crank levers act on the halfbearing blocks m, m<1> of the upper roller through intermediate levers f, f<1> pivoted to the frame at l, l<1>.
