440,479. Rotary engines. ARMSTRONG, WHITWORTH, & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., SIR W. G., and REAVELY, T. C., Scotswood Works, Newcastle-on-Tyne. June 25, 1934, No. 32668 /35. Divided out of 440,212. [Class 110 (ii)] A reversible, or non - reversible fluid motor of the sliding. vane type uses work ing - fluid to drive the vanes, and alsc to eject the vanes outwards from their slots, the twc streams of fluid proceeding separately through the engine A rotatable sleeve H controls the fluid supply to secure rotaton of the motoi in either direction, or to cut off the supply, and is se. cured by a pin I tc a collar J attached tc a valve F. Working- fluid passes to one of chambers 6a, 7a and through either of ports 14, 15, to drive the vanes, and is exhausted by way of either port 16, 17 and one of ports 14, 15. Slots 6, 7, lead working-fluid to or from asymmetric grooves 4, 5, in the stator, which lead to bores 2 in the rotor, and so to slots 3, 1, under the vanes. During the inward movement of the vanes the pressure in the slots is relieved. Specification 440,212 is referred to.
