Abstract
440,222. Secret contact-combination switches. MILNE, J. M., 53, Calderwood Road, Rutherglen, Glasgow. March 21, 1935, No. 33349. [Class 38 (v)] A secret combination switch comprises a spindle 4 on which are loosely rotatable three insulating discs 5, each disc comprising a central raised knurled part 5<a>, a part 5b, on which is adjustably mounted a ring 8 carrying symbols, and two side extensions 5<c> which are grooved as at 6 and carry a circle of conductors 7. On each disc, only one conductor 7 passes right through the disc to connect the two grooves 6, the rest being interrupted. Mounted on the base are four metal brackets 11 which carry spring-urged contact arms 12 which engage the conductors 7. The outer brackets 11 each have one contact arm 12 and inner ones each have two. Thus when the discs are turned so that all the contact arms 12 engage the through conductors 7, a circuit is completed between the two outer brackets 11 to which the external circuit is connected. In a modification, only one conductor on each disc is interrupted, so that the circuit is broken when the combination is set.
