Abstract

439,926. Woodworking cutters. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP HOUTBOUW-EN HOUTHANDELMAATSCHAPPIJ PADOX, 26, Alexanderstraat, The Hague. April 8, 1935, No. 10870. Convention date, April 7, 1934. [Class 145 (i)] A knife for rotary cutter blocks for working wood and the like has its cutting edge and tail portion relatively distorted, and the lateral edges of the knife leading in the direction of rotation of the cutter block are ground and provided with a clearance angle, so that when cutting grooves or other profiles all parts coming into contact with the wood exert a planing action. A grooving tool, Fig. 2, has the edge 7 which cuts the bottom 1 of the groove displaced out of the plane of the tool, i.e. oblique to the shank portion 10 ; the edge 7 is elliptically or helically curved. Owing to this distortion, the leading side edge 9 has a cutting angle of (90‹-alpha), Fig. 4, and is ground away to provide a tool angle # and a clearance angle gamma. In a tool for moulding, Fig. 5, the cutting edges 13, 14 are similarly ground away.
