Abstract
823,633. Woodworking cutters. MONTANWERKE WALTER A. G. April 3, 1958 [April 4, 1957], No. 10737/58. Class 145. A pair of pre-cutters 16, which cut on a larger circle B than the main cutters 13 of a rotary cutting tool, are so supported and guided in a head 11 that, after re-sharpening by grinding only on a face 153, they are correctly adjusted to the same cutting circle when their faces 153 abut complementary surfaces 113 in recesses 112 in the head. Each pre-cutter 16 is mounted in a T-shaped carrier 15 secured in a recess 112 by a screw 17 through a slot 17. The surface 155 of the carrier is parallel to the side rake 154 of the cutter and the lip angle of the cutter is 90 degrees so that, after re-sharpening, the apex of the lip angle lies on the original cutting circle when the surfaces 113 and 153 are abutted. The face 153 is recessed at 156 to reduce the amount of surface to be ground.
