Abstract

1432913 Milling cutters FRIED KRUPP G.m.b.H. 19 April 1974 [21 April 1973] 17324/74 Heading B3K In a milling cutter 1 with replaceable and reversible cutter blades 5 located in peripheral slots 2 in the cutter body which extend parallel to cutter axis for the full depth of the cutter at its periphery, each blade 5 is heated in a support member 3 and clamped in the slot by a wedge 6 which urges it with clamping abutment with the side wall 8 of the slot. The support member 3 is provided with a projection 3<SP>1</SP> which engages the top surface 4 of the cutter body and the member 3 is secured within the groove 2 by a screw member 11 which engages in a recess 12 in the wall of the slot 2, the action of which urges the projection 3<SP>1</SP> and surface 4 into abutment. The wedge 6 is urged into engagement with the support member 3 by screw 7 and the engagement between the wedge surface 9 and the oblique surface 9 of the slot 2 effects the clamping action between the wedge and the cutter blade 5 clamps the blade in the slot against the wall 8. In an alternative embodiment the oblique surface is provided in the support member 3.
