439,909. Cycle driving-mechanism. CLARK, G., 451, Beverley High Road, Hull. Sept. 29, 1934, No. 27931. [Class 136 (ii)] In propelling-mechanism for bicycles, actuated by the weight of the rider, the spindle 17 of the driving - wheel carries at its ends a pair of cranks 16, the free ends of which are pivoted to links 14 on opposite sides of the wheel, the other ends of the links being pivoted at 15 to a common lever 11, which is fulcrumed at 12 to the cycle frame and supports an adjustablymounted saddle 10, fixed footrests 18 on the frame permitting the rider to relieve the saddle of its load intermittently. Balance weights may be mounted on the rear wheel in diametrically-opposed relationship to the cranks. In the case of a tandem bicycle, a pair of adjustable saddles are mounted on either side of the fulcrum of a two-armed lever, and a pair of fixed footrests are provided on the frame.
