Abstract

Body motion, mechanism for propelling by, combined with other driving-mechanism. - In order to assist propulsion and prevent chafing due to friction between the rider's body and the saddle, the saddle consists of two longitudinallydivided members 1, one to support the right hip and thigh and the other the left hip and thigh, each member being pivoted at 2 to the support 3 and at 4 to a connecting-rod 5, which is connected at 5<1> to an auxiliary crank formed on or attached to the pedal crank 7 (as shown) or the chain wheel or pedal crank spindle, the auxiliary cranks being in approximate radial alignment with the respective pedal cranks, so that the downward pressure of the foot and thigh act in conjunction. The rods 5 are adjustable in length, by means of a screw-threaded part 8 and a locknut 9, to correspond with adjustments in the height of the saddle.
