Weight of rider, propelling by.-A scooter is propelled by a pair of alternately-acting treadles 13 carried by double-armed angularly-bent levers 12, each of which is pivoted at 12a on either side of the frame rod 3 and is connected to a reciprocating chain &c. 28 engaging a sprocket wheel &c. 25 adapted to drive the rear wheel 2 through a free-wheel device. Each chain 28 passes over guide wheels 29, 30 and is connected to a returning- spring 31, which is secured to an arm 32 on a stop 33 adapted to limit the downward. movement of each treadle.
